It is the intention of The KOALA Project to provide a personal and direct service for individuals and families to sponsor an orphan child, providing them with the opportunity to complete their education and escape the cycle of poverty to which they were destined.
In 2015, The KOALA Project will have completed construction of the boarding house at Kilimahewa School and will be launching it's new Sponsorship program for up to 20 orphan children from the Kilimahewa village.
ESTIMATED COSTS: Nursery/Primary Schooling: (Day Students) Sponsorship for one child to attend Kilimahewa English Medium Primary School would be approximately $450 per year, to cover school fees, uniform and basic school supplies.
Primary Schooling: (Boarding Orphans Students) Sponsorship for one child to board at Kilimahewa English Medium Primary School would be approximately $1000 per year, to cover accommodation, school fees, meals, uniform and school supplies.
Secondary Schooling: Once they complete their primary schooling our children could then attend a local Government Secondary School OR Private Boarding School. Which school they attend would depend on the student passing entrance exams and which level of support their sponsor family would be happy to pay.
COMMITMENT: It is our preference that sponsors commit to providing ongoing sponsorship of their child until they complete their secondary education, up to 13 years.
7 years of primary education for ages 7–13 (Standard I-VII)
4 years of secondary ordinary level education for ages 14–17 (Form 1-4)
2 years of secondary advanced level education for ages 18–19 (Form 5 and 6)
